New Skills Developed 26-01-2014

New Skills Developed 26/01/14

What a week it has been, it started of with carving two Tarot card boxes
These will be available at Magik-Earth in Shirley, Southampton this week.

I then had a further order which involved engraving a Pentagram on a glass star.  Having never tried this before, I had a practice first on a mirror I had kicking around.  Ummm, pretty good result so off I went with the real article.

The finishing result was..
Cool or what?  this was then to be used as a pendant for a windchime so I set about making them and the end result looks like this .
Whilst in the making stages of this item I was also making a new Faerie wall plaque.  I had a great design ready to go but had to adapt it to make it even more special.  It wasn't the easiest of carvings to do.  The detail required in the wings and the bridge were really small and intricate.

Having carved it and then using wood stains and black enamel paint the finished product came out really good, even if I do say so myself, althogh I will let you be the judge of it.

Also I have been carving another altar bowl, a small one this time, and that was completed last week too.

After making all of the above, just to finish off the week, I started a new Faerie House incense cone burner.  as I only started that today I don't have any pictures yet but I will have by the time I post again.

Whilst I am spending my days carving, painting and wood staining items, my little pal Buster is doing what he does best..

SLEEP!......

Well, I am starting a new project next week, a coffee table/Altar with Pagan symbols on the top so I will have lots of things to post about.  I will post pictures of its progress and I hope to have it finished by the end of next week.

Better sign off now as, like my little pal, eyes are closing now so, thanks for reading and please do check in next week for more updates.

Regards

Steve

New Product Ideas

New Product Ideas

After a very busy week, what with computer work and making customer orders, its a good feeling to be able to sit down on a Friday night, relax and think of some new ideas.

I went to see my friend Mary at Magik-Earth in Shirley, Southampton and we had a good long chat and I was introduced to a couple of her friends,  one of which was a witch that is specialised in herbs and potions and also carries out Palm Readings.  Very interesting lady and showed great interest in my products, as well as my palm.

Whilst visiting Mary, I was mentioning some Green man Tea light Holders that I had made,
I will post some pictures up on Facebook soon.  It was suggested to me about putting crystals in the eyes of the Green Man so that they light up when the tea light is burning.  Cool!! got home and set about doing just that.  Ummmm, may need a bit of refining but the prototype looks great.

More orders have been received, :) always good to get orders, I thrive on being busy, it really helps me with some of my personal issues too.  I guess it will mean more computer work when they are finished though, hey ho, can't be having fun all of the time :)

Having now sold my 2 faerie house incense burners, they are really popular, I will have to make another batch so keep your eyes open on my Facebook Page and website for them.  I will also be making some bigger ones for the garden, toying with having ones where the door can be opened and the shutter too, but need to have a think about that.

Will definitely be making more mobiles and wind chimes, pagan ones and faerie ones.  Always open for ideas if anyone have any though.

Well, it is Friday night and I think it's time for me to shut the brain down for a wee while, so thank you for all your continued support and I will post again next week.

Regards
Steve

New Website Gallery

Tuesday 14th January 2014.

What a busy day today has been, started off early as usual, walk the dog, check emails, none, check sales and webstore views.

Then off to meet Gregg from www.pomelobusiness.co.uk for a discussing and show how to amend the gallery on my main website.

Having installed Jalbums.co.uk the process was really easy to understand, and believe me, if its not a piece of wood or a paint brush, I will get confused.

Check it out.

I think you will agree, the lay out of the gallery and the picture quality are so much better.  It really allows you to see how intricate my work is and how the finished items looks.  I still have  few more tweeks and adjustments to make but I am really pleased so far.

The customer order I posted last is nearly completed now and I will post a picture shortly of the finished item.  I have sent a progress picture to the customer and she is really pleased with it, always great to hear that, really boosts my confidence :).

I have moved the featured artist page to the gallery page now and renamed it as Promoted Art Work.  Having checked out the price for posting pictures on other websites or placing them in exhibitions, I have come up with a really great value option for people who would like to see if their own website is viable, just click the link in the gallery and have a read of the service I am offering.

Well, I had better get on with some more work now so I will post again once more items have been completed or if I have any other news to inform you about.

Thanks for reading

Steve

Sunday 12th January 2014

I just thought I'd share with you a picture of my little workshop where I produce my items.  Its small and compact, no big store room or workshop tools for me.

Well, today started early as usual, yep, its Sunday but one thing I have learnt is no day is a rest day.  Today I have been starting a customer order for a Moon Gazing Hare mobile.

Made from Ash, the hares have been carved into the wood and then using a dremel versatip, the outline has been burnt in so the image stands out.

The picture above shows the progress so far. The larger disc still needs the other side carving.  It takes quiet a while for me to get each image done as I do have really high working standards.

I have also finished another wind chime, this time showing a faerie on a swing carved and then hand painted on Ash.

This wind chime isn't available just yet but will be soon so keep checking my store or my Facebook page as it will be posted there when it is.

I have many new things coming up this week, a new gallery for my main website, further items will be posted on Pagan Market on facebook and more new items will be entering my store.

Another venture is in the pipeline but I will inform you more about that once some details have been finalised.

Thanks for reading and I hope to have some more news shortly.

New year, New start for Newagecarvings.com

http://newagecarvings.com/index.html

Well, I hope you all had a good Xmas period and New Years party.

I am this year endeavouring to make the best of my company which on started in September 2013.

I have currently a website and webstore, facebook page and have been posting my items on Pagan Market but wished to keep a running records of other events along he way of my building business.

The response so far to me and my items has been great and given the fact that I have been suffering from alot of personal issues, this is really welcoming.

My business, if you haven't seen it already online is an=bout making New Age products that fit in with all lifestyle choices.  I not only cover the Pagan, Celtic and Wiccan beliefs, I also have a strong belief in relaxation, meditatation and spirituality.

I must admit, I do have a greater liking for dragons and do have a lot of Dragon figurines and gothic artwork is really interesting.  That said, I do like nature too, especially wildlife like wolvesd, tigers, snow leopards and other big cats, oh and small ones too.

I have set this page up so if you wish to follow my progress and are interested in the items I produce, you are able to keep upto date with me.

It will also allow me to give you an insite to me and how my days are filled.

Well, thats enough to get started with and I hope you tune in for another update soon.

Thanks
Steve
