New Age Carvings has also been out on the road and held a stall at the Wandering Witches fare in Waterlooville Community Centre on Sunday 16th November 2014.  It was a great event and it was so good to see so many stall holders and busy customers.  There was live entertainment in the form of live bands and the whole day was a great success.

I'd like to thank the Wandering Witches for arranging and running this great event and all of the people who came to see me and my items on the day.

As the Christmas season draws nearer, I will now be concentrating on making customer orders and new items for the new year, however, I will remain open for orders and requests throughout the festive period.

Well, I think that has brought things up to date for you all and once again, thank you everyone for your continued support.

Blessings
Steve

Stag and Wolf table 01/08/14

Stag and Wolf Coffee Table

I was given a commission to produce a coffee table with a a stags head on, a moon between the antlers and a wolfs head inside it.

Having hunted for an appropriate table and confirming the design with the customer, the project commenced.
The following images show the process I went through and the finished item.

I am also very pleased to say that the customer was really pleased with his purchase and it is now at its new home.

If you would like me to produce an item for you and include it to my blogg page, website and do a running progress on Facebook, please contact me at www.newagecarvings.com.

Thank you for your time and please tune in for further stories.

July 2014 update

July 2014 Update for New Age Carvings.

Wow, this year is going quickly and I have been really busy with shows and new items.  I have also had a great deal of interest in my Facebook page and I would like to thank everyone for your continued support.

I have been making some different lines this month and here are just a few of them.

 Watching time Faerie clock
this clock was a great item to do, I had to carve a new face for it, strip the original wood colour off it and stain the whole thing after carving and hand painting faeries on the sides and roses around the top.

These small dragonfly hangers are ideal for the garden.  They are a smaller version of the ones I have done for the mobiles but they are just a cute and effective.

This is a Celtic butterfly mobile I did.
designed with small butterfly glass stones around the sides it is a great garden ornament.

Driftwood and wire pendants.  I came up with the idea of adding a new dimension to my wooden pendants by sewing wire around the edge in a criss-cross design and they have been a great seller.

This howling wolf engraved pendant was a item I did for an auction I held on my facebook page.  It was won by Amanda and she is very pleased with it.

I made these mini garden faerie house ornaments to go in line with my larger ones.  These are really cute and very detailed and can be hidden in any sized garden.

I was asked by a customer if I could carve alter figurines.  Something new and something I have not tried before but I was willing to give it my best effort.  They turned out really well I think and the customer was really pleased with them too.

The same customer who wanted the figurines also requested a athame for her alter.  I came up with the idea of a wooden handle and a slate point and this was the end result.  Needless to say the customer was extremely happy and it is now displayed on her alter.

Amongst making all of the above items, I had to make a display frame for my show table as I was due to do one in Portsmouth and had nowhere to hang the mobiles.  Besides that, I also wanted to make my stall stand out.  Having spent 3 hours the night before the show, cutting wood and carving my business name on the plaque, the final items was ready to go.

I have been asked to join the show at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth run by the Hampshire Pet Fair and I will be having a stall indoors.

The date is 30th August 2014 and it will be good to see you there if you can make it.  I will however post some pictures on my facebook page showing how the day went.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this update and I hope you continue to like and return for future updates.

Kinds regards
Steve

Faerie clock project

Faerie Clock Project

May-June 2014

Hi folks,

welcome to my Faerie Clock Project blog,  I hope you like following the project as it progressed and the item is now available for purchase in my shop.

I managed to get hold of an old tall clock that was ideal for this project and I new would make a truly beautiful unique item.  To start the project though, I have to separate the clock top from the casing which was a little tricky as it wasn't clear how it had been assembled.

As a short while, the clock was in 3 parts, the top was one, the pendulum case another and the base a third and it was ready to start prepping.

The design for the new clock face had already been decided so it was just a case now of removing the old one and clock mechanism, which unfortunately had broken so that I could get the correct measurements.

The new face, made from Plywood now needed to be carved with the design and then phyrographed to make it start out when the appropriate wood stains were added.

The case now needed to be prepped ready for new stain and artwork to be added.  This took a fair amount of time, 4 hours to be honest, to get it ready.

I wanted to make the sides of the clock to be a feature as well as the front so a faerie design was chosen for the two side raised panels that would fit in with the clock face.

Once I as happy with the sides of the clock, I needed a design for the top front and sides that would not only look great, but also tie in with the clock face.  The roses were chosen as there was a rose on the clock face representing 12,3,6 and 9 o'clock.

With the artwork completed, the whole clock now needed to be stained with Dark oak and teak to give it a rustic look.  The staining was then rubbed down and then protected with varnish, sealer and finally a clear lacquer.

The finished result I have achieved is stunning and would look amazing sat on a mantle over an open fire or hanging on a wall.
